Narrative Report in MyTeaching Internship

Practice teaching is a crucial part of every student-teacher’s life during college. Student-teachers are college students teaching under the supervision of certified teachers in order to qualify for a degree of education.

These certified teachers are called cooperating teachers and the school where these teachers are working is called cooperating school. Every student-teacher has his/her own expectations of their cooperating school it is to be welcomed and whole-heartedly accepted by the school head and its teachers. Like what I expect before my co-student-teachers and I proceed to our respective station. We, the student-teachers, feel the warm welcome and sincere kindness in accepting us to practice and develop our teaching skills and to gain more knowledge and strategies in effective teaching.

By the help of my cooperating teachers, l learned to condition myself in dealing with every circumstance in and outside of the classroom. Their full supervision and guidance made me feel comfortable and enjoy my stay here as a student-teacher. They exerted their efforts for me to learn from them and fully retain the techniques that they had taught me.

As my practice teaching goes along, there’s something that I can’t forget. One of my cooperating teachers gave her shoulder for me to cry on during the time that I feel like I'm a failure. I didn’t expect that she’ll do that just to let me feel relieved. Her words of encouragements made me feel comfortable at my hardest situation.

I also can’t even forget the strategies that my cooperating teachers imparted and taught me. It is bringing out the best in every learner and makes them feel like that they are valued.

Upon my observation, encouraging learners is often the most effective strategy in coping with difficult learners’ behaviors. As a future teacher, I will do the same thing as what they’re doing. As what I learned in dealing with the different learners behaviors, they need attention and encouragement to strive harder and to pursue something. Constant encouragement stimulates the pupils to believe what is impossible.

All in all, I have learned a lot of things that I may apply at the time that I am also one of those certified teachers. It is a great pleasure to have a chance to be an apprentice in this school. It’s awesome to meet and mingle with the disciplinarian but cool principal, Ma’am Conie.
